Drew Picked to Repeat in '09 in Landmark Conference


MADISON, N.J. — The Drew University men's lacrosse team won the inaugural Landmark Conference Men's Lacrosse Championship and is now picked to repeat as champions as voted in the Landmark Preseason Men's Lacrosse Poll. The head men's lacrosse coaches and sports information directors at each institution that sponsors the sport were polled for the preseason ballot.

The defending champions captured every first-place vote to finish with 48 points in the balloting. The University of Scranton and Goucher College had a tight battle for the next two spots with Scranton placing second with 41 points and Goucher just three points back with 38. The United States Merchant Marine Academy rounded out the top-4 with 34 points in the voting.

Drew - Defense Keys Rangers' Fourth Straight Win


The Rangers came to life in the third period to defeat a tough Montclair State squad and win their fourth straight men’s lacrosse game, 13-8. Drew used to 5-1 third quarter to break open a tight game at Ranger Stadium as Mike Sayers and Greg Reading both scored twice in the decisive span. Drew got 14 saves from their effective keeper duo of Brad Mendelson and Michael Celentano. Rob Budziszewski (LEFT) scored another four goals and the Rangers (4-4) held Montclair’s (6-3) high scoring Bryan Klimchak to two goals and an assist.

Budziszewski Leads Drew Rangers to Third Straight Win

Rob Budziszewski scored another six goals as Drew men’s lacrosse won its third straight game with a 14-4 win over Catholic. Budziszewski has scored 15 goals in the Rangers three wins and the Ranger defense has allowed just 18 goals in that stretch. Greg Reading added four goals for the Rangers. Michael Celentano and Brad Mendelson combined for 18 saves in goal for the Rangers.

Drew gets back into action on Wednesday night when it hosts Montclair State.

Drew Throttles Moravian 24-8


So far, so good for the men’s lacrosse team in Landmark Conference play as Drew defeated Moravian 24-8 in its LC debut. Rob Budziszewski and Mike Sayers (left) each tallied five while Jon Bucknam added three goals and four assists for the Rangers. 14 Rangers registered at least one point in the match as Drew outshined their hosts in every aspect of the game. Drew (2-4) will continue its Landmark campaign by hosting Catholic at Ranger Stadium on Saturday.
