Stevenson Beats Stevens

HOBOKEN, N.J. (February 28, 2009) – The No. 8 Stevenson University men's lacrosse defeated No. 15 Stevens Institute of Technology on Saturday afternoon at the De Baun Athletic Complex in Hoboken, N.J. Stevenson outscored Stevens 4-1 in the all-important third quarter to take an 8-5 lead heading into the final 15 minutes of play, and the Ducks could not find the equalizer. The key to the game was possession as the Mustangs had the ball for about 65 percent of the time. The Ducks were led by two goals and an assist from sophomore attackman Chris Laurita (Timber Ponds, N.J.), but were outshot 49-33 on the afternoon.

Ducks Defeat Elmira, 18-4

HOBOKEN, N.J. (April 16, 2008) – Senior attacker/midfielder R.J. Ancona won 76.9 percent (20-for-26) of the faceoffs and collected nine ground balls as the Stevens Institute of Technology men’s lacrosse team routed Elmira College by the final score of 18-4 during Senior Day on Wednesday at the De Baun Athletic Complex in Hoboken, N.J. Meanwhile, sophomore attacker Josh Holmes and sophomore attacker/midfielder Alex Couture scored three goals apiece as the Ducks won their third game in a row to improve to 8-3 overall.

Stevens Beats Nazareth 8-7

HOBOKEN, N.J. (April 12, 2008) – Sophomore midfielder Bobby Steinhauser scored the game-winning goal with 3.7 seconds remaining in regulation as the Stevens Institute of Technology men’s lacrosse team posted its second-straight win over a nationally-ranked team with a thrilling 8-7 victory over No. 16 Nazareth College on Saturday afternoon at the De Baun Athletic Complex in Hoboken, N.J. Steinhauser’s third goal of the game, which came off a feed from behind the cage by senior attacker John Dolny, helped the Ducks win for the sixth time in seven games and kept the team tied for first place in the Empire 8 with sixth-ranked Ithaca College.
