Rules In Focus : Slashing

From the 2008 NFHS Boys Lacrosse Rule Book:

Slashing
"Article 1 - Swinging a crosse at an opponent's crosse or body with deliberate viciousness or reckless abandon, regardless of whether the opponent's crosse or body is struck."

This is a little known article of the NFHS Rule Book as it pertains to slashing. You can receive a personal foul simply for swinging the stick violently, even if you don't hit anything or anyone.
